Why is coaching and mentoring important for students?
While schools place a strong emphasis on the importance of good grades, a holistic approach to student success is often neglected. Being successful as a student spans beyond a GPA; time management skills, outdoor activities, emotional communication, and executive functioning skills are equally, if not more important indicators of student success. That being said, we want to introduce to our available coaching and mentoring programs where students can connect with young adults and other teens to learn the necessary skills they need to live a well rounded life.
What age students would benefit the most from our mentorship programs?
All students, regardless of age could surely benefit from having a personal coach/mentor! For elementary and middle school students, having a safe space to talk about emotions, learn important time management strategies, and stress relief activities like beachside yoga and outdoor games within a pod of other kids is crucial to development. Additionally, for high school students, guidance from college students on well rounded approaches to navigating high school is available with our unique mentorship program. For any age, the holistic approach that BMT Mentoring/Coaching takes to helping students develop emotional management, organizational, and executive functioning skills is unmatched.
How are coaching/mentorship programs adjusted to benefit students during the COVID-19 pandemic?
Throughout the 2021 spring and summer, we hope to utilize Zoom coaching as needed while also creating pods by age group that are assigned to a mentor and will meet on a monthly or bi-monthly basis. Emotional connection is so important for these programs, so if possible in a COVID safe environment, we aim to get kids interacting with each other and their coaches while participating in in-person activities.
