Meet a few of our current team members here at Brighter Minds:
Vanessa is a Computer Science major at UCLA with a passion for tutoring Science and Math. She's highly involved in the engineering community at UCLA, as a member of the Society of Women Engineers and Association of Computing Machinery. She specializes in advanced STEM subjects, ranging from AP Computer Science to AP Calculus AB/BC. Vanessa is known by her positive attitude and contagious smile, and in her free time she loves to dance and snowboard.

Michael graduated Magna Cum Laude from UCLA in 2019 with a degree in Classical Civilizations while also preparing for a career in medicine. As a student, he worked for Undergraduate Admissions in the Campus Tours program and conducted nanoparticle research for the Chemistry Department. Michael has a tremendous passion for teaching. He takes a holistic and personalized approach in tutoring each of his students. Michael tutors subjects including Latin, math, chemistry, biology, physics, psychology, history, and English.

Alexis is a recent graduate of UCLA who studied Communications, Spanish, and Musicology. She worked as a campus tour guide and was an active member of the Pediatric Aids Coalition. Her vast range of academic and professional experience make her one of our most well rounded tutors, who thrives in tutoring students in most every subject. With over 5 years of experience with tutoring, her passion for teaching is unmatched.

Maxwell just completed his first year at UCLA in pursuit of a Business Economics degree. Already, Maxwell is involved with Bruin Value Investing, the Undegradute Business Society, and the Bruin Real Estate Association. Maxwell's high-achieving mindset makes him an excellent for role model for his students. His favorite quote is by Michael Jordan: "Talent wins games, but teamwork and intelligence wins championships." In his free time, Maxwell enjoys biking, playing soccer, hiking, and listening to musc.

Hannah holds a degree in Psychobiology from UCLA. During her time on campus, she was an active member of the Pediatric AIDS Coalition, the Bruin Beans Health Club, and the Pi Beta Phi Sorority. Hannah is an avid reader and her genuine love for learning inspires all of her students. Outside of the classroom, Hannah was a competitive figure skate for 10 years. On the weekends, you can find Hannah on the trails hiking or spending time at the beach.

Daniel is a Business Economics Major at UCLA. He has experience and strength in tutoring standardized tests such as the ISEE and SAT, as well as history, English, writing, and other humanities/social studies disciplines. He loves pushing students to the point of demonstrating excellence in the classroom. In his free time, he enjoys drumming, guitar, soccer and basketball!

Jade graduated with a Bioengineering Major and Bioinformatics minor in June 2020. During her time at UCLA, she was a campus tour guide for 3 years and a member of the marching band for all 4. She loves to hike, cook, spend time with her cats, and is currently pursuing a masters in Bioinformatics from Johns Hopkins University.

Jonah is a third year Statistics major at UCLA who specializes in advanced mathematics and standardized test prep (quantitive + verbal). He's an avid runner, director of his own film, and loves to play guitar. His love for tutoring is a reflection of the positive influence peer tutors and teachers had on his own academic successes.

Natalie is a 3rd year student at UCLA pursuing a degree in Neuroscience and Human Biology and Society. She works as a UCLA PreMed society mentor, and got interested in tutoring and helping high school students excel in STEM. She boasts a perfect SAT score and loves sharing her study tactics through test prep tutoring as well. Over quarantine, she developed a love for gardening, and watching movies- especially Marvel!

Marissa recently graduated with honors in 2020 with a degree in Psychology and minor in Spanish. She developed a passion for tutoring after her science professors explained difficult material in a straightforward and digestible way, inspiring her to want to become a Learning Assistant for the UCLA Life Sciences program. When she's not studying, working as a tutor, TA, or Camp Kesem counselor, you can find her doing arts and crafts or cooking.

Maya is majoring in Human Biology and Society at UCLA. She has a passion for teaching, coaching, and empowering students to reach their full potential. In her free time, she loves run, shop, and read. At school, she specializes as a coach for the US Special Olympics, as well as being involved with UCLA's Alpha Phi sorority and the Saving Hearts Foundation. |
Star is pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology at UCLA. With having traveled to over 85 countries, Star is one of our most wordly tutors with a natural curiousity for life. Star serves as an Executive Board Member for the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. She also is a part of UCLA Hillel and plays for the Women's Lacrosse team. To top off her impressive resume, Star is an exceptional cello player.
